This pool features two of the 2016 Olympic medal winning teams in gold medalist Brazil and bronze medalist USA and the teams are playing Brazil in an arena that could hold as many as 15,000 raging fans.

Poland Squashes Korea; Brazil Rides Tandara to 3-1 win Over Dutch

Poland earned its first win of Week 3 action, besting South Korea across the stat sheet in an easy sweep and snapping a four-match skid as Malwina Smarzek notched 19 points. Tandara Caixeta supplied more than enough firepower to lift Brazil past the Netherlands in four sets, although the Dutch outscored the visitors by five points.

Italy Tops China 3-1; Japan Eliminates Argentina from Contention

Japan was just too much for Argentina offensively, registering 15 more kills, in a sweep, which mathematically eliminated Argentina from Final 6 contention. Paola Egonu and Miryam Fatime Sylla paced Italy with double-digit scoring efforts as the Italians issued top-ranked China their first loss in Pool 12.

Brazil, Netherlands Post Sweeps to Set Up Epic Thursday Battle

Four Brazilian players turned in double-digit scoring efforts as Brazil owned the net in a sweep of Poland on Wednesday. South Korea was overmatched in every facet of the game as the Netherlands nearly doubled the Koreans’ point tally (75-40) in a sweep.
