The 3rd-ranked Badgers notched a victory in 4 sets against Illinois State in Marquette Invitational action Saturday morning.

Wisconsin hit at a .296 clip, while holding the Redbirds to a dismal .097, and led the blocking effort, 14-6, to earn its third-straight win.

Illinois State stole the opening set from the Badgers, 25-22, rallying to record 7 of the last 12 points for the early advantage.
Wisconsin responded with a strong start in the second, going up 7-1 early. The Badgers were dominant, using several scoring runs to even the match with a 25-14 win.
After falling behind in the third set, the Redbirds worked their way back into contention at 14-14. Wisconsin did not fold, and seized the momentum with a 7-2 stretch to pull away. The Badgers went on to claim the 25-20 win.
Wisconsin boasted a 15-7 lead midway through Set 4 thanks to a 5-0 run, including two blocks and a kill by Dana Rettke. The Badgers held the advantage throughout, closing the match with four straight points.

Rettke registered 16 kills and 7 blocks and hit at an impressive .500 clip to lead the Badgers. Sydney Hilley distributed 40 assists, while Tiffany Clark logged 25 digs.
Three Redbirds notched double-figure kill totals: Lexi Varga (15), Marissa Stockman (11) and Kaylee Martin (10). Stef Jankiewicz posted a double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs.

Illinois State leads Wisconsin, 14-10, in the all-time series, but have not defeated the Badgers since Sept. 18, 1986. Wisconsin owns a 6-match win streak against the Redbirds.
