In spite of big play from their middles, including Rachael Adams, all week long, the Americans didn’t have enough to advance to the semi-finals of the World Championships.
China and the United States will open up Pool H with their 4th meeting of the summer.
The star of the show thus far in the World Championships has been Italy’s Paola Egonu. The 19-year old has notched 182 total points (150 kills, 17 blocks, 15 aces) and also ranks among the top 10 in aces and kills.
The draw for the 3rd round of the FIVB Women’s World Championship features Italy, Japan and Serbia in Pool G and Netherlands, China and the United States in Pool H. Matches are set to begin on Oct. 14 in Noppon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan.
It’s on to the 3rd round of the 2018 FIVB Women’s World Championship for 7th-ranked Italy (9-0, 27 points), top-ranked China (8-1, 24 points) and the 2nd-ranked United States (7-2, 19 points). The Italians bested the Americans, who squeaked in after the Chinese knocked off the Russians Thursday night.
The Americans and the Chinese will meet for the 4th time this summer. The Chinese have won 2 of those matches.
