It’s always an interesting conversation to crossover athletes to what other sports they could play at a high-level. Every Monday in Lawrence, Kansas football head coach David Beaty joins Hawk Talk, a weekly show featuring the head man himself. Beaty began the show congratulating Kansas volleyball for their win over Kentucky and went on to say that he wants to put All-American right side Kelsie Payne on the football team at wide receiver.
The Kansas football team has 16 wide receivers listed on its 2017 roster. Of those 16, only one can match Payne’s height of 6’4″. Not to mention that the senior has an incredible vertical leap and athleticism that has led to AVCA First-Team All-American two straight seasons and a Big 12 Player of the Year award.
This was obviously some light-hearted fun by Beaty, and Payne kept the fun going by responding on Twitter: “I’M READY!! When’s practice?”
The two exchanged another tweet as well (seen below):

Again, all in good fun, but it got us thinking here at VolleyMob, if you were to create a football team out of NCAA Women’s Division I Volleyball players, who would you have?
Could a setter like Samatha Seliger-Swenson at Minnesota or Ainise Havili at Kansas quarterback the offense? Would 6’8″ Rachael Kramer of Florida make a good tight end or could she be a candidate as a defensive end? Who would be the team’s running back?
We want to know your answers so to reach out to us on Twitter (@VolleyMob) of players you think would fit into a certain position as we will take into account the answers before we come up with a list of our own.
