The latest ACC Volleyball Player of the Week award went to Sam Fry of Notre Dame after she helped the Fighting Irish emerge as an ‘on the cusp’ team in the latest VolleyMob Top 25.
Notre Dame’s big win included a 3-0 record where they didn’t drop a single set, highlighted by a win over a ranked Michigan State squad as the Fighting Irish are now 10-1 overall. The senior middle blocker was named the Shamrock Invitational Tournament MVP behind a .510 hitting percentage to pair with 29 kills and 14 blocks as she notched at least four blocks in all three matches.
For Fry, the honor is the first weekly award from the ACC in her career, although the 6’0″ senior was Second-Team All-ACC in both 2015 and 2016.
Fry wasn’t the only player honored by the ACC for week four, as Pittsburgh’s Kayla Lund was named the conference’s Freshman of the Week. Lund assisted Pittsburgh in an undefeated weekend as they improved to 7-4 overall on the season by winning all nine sets of play. The individual stats were strong as well, as Lund logged 26 kills while hitting .340 along with 21 digs and five blocks in those nine sets of action.
