The UCLA Men’s Volleyball team has its path set for the 2018 season as they look to improve on their 17-10 season in which they finished the year ranked sixth in 2017. The schedule still features old traditional opponents as they embark on a new MPSF that was reshaped with the addition of the Big West this season.
The schedule kicks off on January 3 against NJIT and continues with two more matches to prepare for their first test against a team who finished last season ranked and is part of that new Big West in UC Irvine (5) on January 10. The Bruins get two more matches with Big West foes following that in UC Santa Barbara (RV) and UC San Diego.
The Pac-12 and Big Ten Challenge follows that, as UCLA once again takes part in the event with Penn State and two-time defending National Champion Ohio State (1) coming to town January 18 and 20th respectively. A trip to Hawaii (4) comes after that before three more non-conference matches featuring Princeton, at UC Irvine and CSUN (15).
UCLA’s first MPSF conference match takes place on February 8 with a road test at Concordia and continues at Grand Canyon (13) and at home vs. USC (11) on Valentines Day.
A quick non-conference stop in between MPSF play occurs with a home-and-home against Long Beach State (3) with another coming against George Mason later in the year. Besides those, it’s all MPSF action down the stretch with two matches to come against Pepperdine (8), Stanford (9) and BYU (2) with one more against Concordia, Grand Canyon and USC. Senior day comes on April 7 in the regular season finale against 2017 National Runner-Up BYU.
The MPSF Tournament takes place April 14-21 to precede the NCAA Tournament.
