Every week at VolleyMob we will release the updated standings in every conference in Collegiate Men’s Volleyball. League play is now in the thick of things throughout the landscape of men’s Division I-II volleyball, with every conference kicking things off so far. The aggregated results of every team’s overall record via those conference standings can be seen below:

BIG WEST:

  • LBSU continued its unbeaten reign in downing UC San Diego twice, but the big story was that Hawaii and UC Irvine escaped the quartet of teams tied from second to fifth with season sweeps. That sets up a race to the finish between the two for potentially the last at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.
TEAM CONF. OVERALL
#1 LBSU 8-0 23-0
#5 Hawaii 5-3 17-6
#4 UC Irvine 5-3 19-7
#10 CSUN 3-5 13-10
#12 UCSB 3-5 10-11
UC San Diego 0-8 9-16

CONFERENCE CAROLINAS:

  • King edged out Barton in the rematch to earn a regular season split between the two. Due to sets won/lost vs. the conference, King also snags the #1 seed for the conference tournament, leaving Barton as the #2 and a tougher semifinal match (assuming they get there) with #3 seed Mount Olive.
TEAM CONF. OVERALL
#18 King 15-1 19-5
(RV) Barton 15-1 19-7
Mount Olive 11-5 15-12
Belmont Abbey 8-7 12-14
North Greenville 6-9 12-15
Emmanuel 5-11 9-16
Limestone 5-11 8-19
Erskine 4-11 7-18
Lees-McRae 1-14 3-21

EIVA:

  • For the first time this season, George Mason lost in EIVA play. That opens things up for Harvard, who has been on a roll and takes on the Patriots twice this week with two wins earning them the title versus just one for GMU getting the job done.
TEAM CONF. OVERALL
#16 George Mason 11-1 15-11
(RV) Harvard 10-2 11-11
#17 Penn State 9-3 14-9
(RV) Princeton 6-6 10-14
Charleston 4-8 14-9
NJIT 4-8 7-16
Saint Francis 3-9 8-19
Sacred Heart 1-11 5-14

INDEPENDENT:

  • This week marks the IVA Tournament, with the semifinals on Friday and the championship on Saturday. It may not be for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, but any time a league title and a trophy is on the line things should get interesting.
TEAM OVERALL
Coker 12-9
Lincoln Memorial 12-12
Queens 8-18
Alderson Broaddus 3-18

MIVA:

  • Both Ohio State and Loyola Chicago suffered upset losses this week – although the Buckeyes came in less surprising fashion on the road against Ball State in five sets. That means the two share the MIVA regular season title as we head into the postseason this week.
TEAM CONF. OVERALL
#6 Ohio State 11-3 20-5
#7 Loyola Chicago 11-3 21-6
#10 Ball State 10-4 17-11
#9 Lewis 9-5 18-10
#13 Fort Wayne 6-8 18-10
#19 McKendree 6-8 11-14
Lindenwood 3-11 9-15
Quincy 0-14 12-18

MPSF:

  • UCLA took down BYU, but it was only after the Cougars had won the MPSF regular season title outright. That leads us into the postseason, where BYU has a bye this week and the quarterfinals commence with the higher seeds hosting.
TEAM CONF. OVERALL
#2 BYU 10-2 20-6
#3 UCLA 9-3 22-6
#8 Pepperdine 8-4 15-7
#14 Concordia Irvine 5-7 15-14
#15 Grand Canyon 4-8 18-10
#20 USC 3-9 7-19
Stanford 3-9 6-19
