Stanford doesn’t plan on having much to replace in 2018 with just one senior currently on the roster in 2017. With the lack of likely departures, Stanford won’t be bringing in quantity, but with latest commitment Holly Campbell, they do bring in quality.
A 6’4″ middle blocker, Campbell is currently a senior at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. As a junior last season, she totaled over 250 kills on a .426 hitting percentage. She also added 174 blocks and 51 aces to her year.
Her performance earned her District 25-6A’s MVP after setting the school record in kills and blocks. It also garnered her attention and an opportunity to play with the U.S. Girls Junior National Team, which she did over the summer recently.
It wasn’t Campbell’s first season of varsity either, as she spent time with the team in each of her first two years. She played in 36 sets as a freshman and 110 as a sophomore when she netted 250 kills.
Stanford currently has four middle blockers on their roster this season. Two of the four are juniors while the other pair are sophomores athletically. Campbell will look to add to the team in 2018 and provide another front line talent for the defending National Champions.
