Sacramento State garnered the commitment of McKenna Smith, a 2018 setter from Arizona. Smith will be a senior in high school this upcoming season as she has one more year before entering the collegiate ranks.

Smith currently plays for Aspire 17 Rox after also playing for the 16-team a year prior where her team had 63 total wins. She also won the Arizona Regional Championships with Aspire 16 Rox in addition to being a part of a team that finished fifth in the open division at the USA Volleyball Girls Nationals.

She was also with Spiral-14UA and Spiral-15UA in the two seasons prior and saw time as a setter and defensive specialist at Campo Verde High School.

Standing at 5’9″, Smith has a 7’3″ standing reach with a 9’4″ block and a 9’7″ approach. She is set to join a Sacramento State roster that currently features a trio of setters, but with two seniors that will graduate before 2018 and leave spots open for Smith.

Sacramento State finished 20-12 in 2016 as they posted a 13-3 conference record in the Big Sky before falling to Northern Arizona in the conference tournament semifinals.
