Terre Haute, Indiana – The Panthers went on the road and earned a conference road win with a 3-0 sweep of Indiana State.

The Northern Iowa offense dominated in the match by hitting .393 with Bri Weber posting 20 kills while hitting .514. Heather Hook distributed the majority of the kills with 39 assists to go with her nine digs.

Northern Iowa jumped all over Indiana State early with a 25-15 set win after falling behind 7-6 early. It wasn’t much closer in set two at 25-17. Set three started the same way, but Indiana State drew back late to tie at 20. However, a 5-0 spurt from Northern Iowa put the final nail in the coffin.

Beyond the offense, Northern Iowa also posted 51 team digs to Indiana State’s 34 in holding the Sycamores to a .152 mark.

Next up, Northern Iowa has one more road match for the weekend at Evansville. Indiana State meanwhile plays host again as Drake comes into town.

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – University of Northern Iowa junior Bri Weber posted 20 kills in leading the Panthers to a 3-0 sweep of the Indiana State Sycamores on Friday. UNI won by set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-20.

UNI remained unblemished in Missouri Valley Conference play as the Panthers improved to 5-0 in league action. UNI ran its season-best win streak to five in a row as the Panthers hit .393 as a team in the three-set road victory. Indiana State fell to 5-12 overall and 3-2 in MVC action.

The Panthers hit .400 in the opening set with an 87 percent sideout effort. UNI continued with an 87 percent sideout effort in the second set to go wtih a .368 attack percentage. The Panthers closed out the third set by hitting .412 with a 64 percent sideout clip. UNI recorded a 78 percent sideout number for the entire match.

Karlie Taylor added her team-leading 11th double-double on the season with 11 kills and 11 digs. Piper Thomas contributed 12 kills and two blocks to the victory. Taylor Hedges and Kendyl Sorgeeach tallied 10 digs in the back row.

Weber set her career-best with a .514 hitting percentage with 20 kills and two errors on 35 attacks. Weber has posted back-to-back 20-kill performances.

UNI will travel to Evansville, Ind., to take on the Evansville Purple Aces on Saturday at 7 p.m.

NOTES: UNI improved to 6-1 in three-set matches … UNI won the first set for the 15th time this season and improved to 14-1 when winning the first set … UNI moved to 677-9 all-time when winning the first two sets of a match … Weber has collected 982 career kills and will need 18 kills to become the 12th UNI Panthers in the 1,000/1,000 club … Weber has tallied 1,110 career digs.
