Another week in the books, three more award winners for the action given out in the Pac-12. This week, one team took the entirety of the honors as the Oregon State Beavers swept the honors for their pair of wins in the state of Washington.
Leading the trio of Beavers in sweeping the awards was senior Mary-Kate Marshall, a native of Coppell, Texas. In Oregon State’s win at #13 Washington, Marshall logged 25 kills, with eight in the fifth set, to go with 10 digs before posting 21 kills and 11 digs in another five-set win at (RV) Washington State. In total for the week, she averaged 4.60 kills per set while hitting .231 in addition to 2.10 digs per set as it was the program’s first road sweep since 2011 and first sweep through the state of Washington since 1990.
While Marshall terminated the ball on offense, she had help on the defensive side with Grace Massey, the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week. A freshman from Beaverton, Oregon, Massey logged 4.20 digs per set in what were her first career starts at libero. Both matches featured 21 dig performances, giving her a new career high.
The final honoree for Oregon State was another freshman in Maddie Goings. She was the perfect complement to Marshall on the offensive end and also added to the defense with 3.2 kills and 3.2 digs per set for the week. The Aledo, Texas native went about it with two double-doubles as she had 19 kills and 21 digs at Washington and 13 kills and 11 digs at Washington State. It’s the first Pac-12 Freshman of the Week award in her career, as it is the first Pac-12 weekly honor for the aforementioned two Beavers.
