The Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball awards are out for performances from week eight of the season as Miami (FL)’s Haley Templeton earned Player of the Week with Pittsburgh’s Kayla Lund collecting Freshman of the Week in the conference.
Templeton, a redshirt junior setter from Alpharetta, Georgia, earns her second such honor of the season for her week’s worth of work. In road wins against Duke and Wake Forest, Templeton totaled 92 assists, nine kills (.500), 23 digs, four blocks and two aces in eight sets of play. That totals out to be 11.50 assists per set and just under three digs per set for the week.
Beyond her individual performance, Templeton was crucial with 61 assists in a five set win at Duke as the Hurricanes improved to 4-0 in five-set matches this season.
Joining Templeton is Kayla Lund of Pittsburgh, a freshman from Pasadena, California. Just like Miami (FL), Pittsburgh earned a pair of road wins as the Panthers swept Syracuse and Boston College. Over the course of the six sets of play, she netted 17 kills (.344), 13 digs and four blocks
Miami (FL)’s wins with Templeton push their ACC record to 5-3 and 11-3 overall, as now Pittsburgh sits in a tie with NC State atop the conference at 8-0 to go with their 15-4 overall mark.
