A pair of Air Force Falcons soared high to earn the latest Mountain West Conference volleyball weekly awards for their play during week eight of the season. The honors went to Denise Ssozi, the MWC Offensive Player of the Week, and Kathleen Medill, the MWC Defensive Player of the Week.

The week for Air Force filled with accolades was filled by a pair of wins over Utah State 3-1 and Boise State 3-0, giving the Falcons their first back-to-back Mountain West victories since 2014.

Ssozi, a sophomore outside hitter from Johnston, Iowa, averaged 4.29 kills per set for a week that featured those two wins. That came about with 14 kills, three assists and two aces against Utah State followed by 16 more kills in the sweep of Boise State. In total, she also hit .367 for the week.

From offense to defense, Medill protected the Falcons’ side of the court as a freshman middle blocker from Lincoln, Nebraska. She did so with 15 total blocks for the two matches, good for a high total of 2.14 blocks per set. Part of those gaudy numbers were fueled by her nine total blocks against Utah state, which was a career-high for her.
