Turkish Women: Fenerbahce Forges Comeback To Win In Five

After a month off, the Turkish Women’s Vestel Venus Soltones League has returned to action, with a number of easy matches along with some hard-fought battles. The top four teams in the league won their matches, Eczacisbasi VitrA and VakifBank each won in straight sets, while Galatasaray and Fenerbahce had to fight from behind to win.

Galatasaray lost their first set 25-23 to Nilufer Bld. but forged a comeback to win the next three. Tatiana Kosheleva led the team with 24 points while Dobriana Rabadzhieva and Guler Neslihan Demir added another 18 and 16 points, respectively, in the win.

For Fenerbahce, they dropped the first two sets of the but woke up in the third, fourth and fifth sets to win the match by a large margin. Leading the Fenerbahce charge was Polina Rahimova with 24 points while Natalia Pereira and Dundar Eda Erdem posted 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Canakkale played the back and forth game in their win over Seramiksan, as they lost the first, won the second, lost the third before winning the fourth and fifth to claim the win.

VakifBank was able to down Halkbank in three sets without their star outside hitter Zhu Ting, who sat out during the match.
