Coastal Carolina Wins Sun Belt Title, Earns Spot In NCAA Tournament

Coastal Carolina takes down Arkansas State in four at the Sun Belt conference championships. This is the Chants first Sun Belt title in their first season in the league, and third straight conference title after winning the Big South title in their final two season with the league.

It is the first time in program history that the Chants have won three consecutive championships.

To lead Coastal Caroline, Leah Hardeman posted a double-double of 14 kills and 18 digs that helped her to earn the 2016 Sun Belt Tourament’s Most Outstanding Performer.

Tahleia Bishop also helped the squad to victory with 15 kills and nine digs, also posting double-digit kills is Annayka Legros with 12 and a team-best six blocks.

For Arkansas State, Carlisa May recorded 13 kills and Markie Schaedig picked up 20 digs in the back row. Setter Mallory Warrington dished out 45 assists and 16 digs for a double-double. Also posting a double-double was Kenzie Fields with 11 kills and 11 digs.

Coastal Carolina’s NCAA Volleyball Championship fate will be determined on Sunday, November 27 at 8 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU as the official tournament brackets will be released.
