Class of 2020 setter and right side Peri Martin has committed to the West Virginia State University women’s volleyball program. It’s not the first future recruit for WVSU either, as the class of 2019 also welcomes on middle blocker Maria Boldoser from Ohio.
A junior-to-be come the fall, the 5’8″ Martin attends Gallia Academy in Gallipolis, Ohio. In her most recent season, Martin helped the Blue Devils to a 23-2 record that included a 14-0 mark in district play before the year ended in the District Semifinal.
Individually in her second year of varsity, Martin recorded 622 assists (9.3 per set), 107 digs (1.6 per set), 49 kills (0.7 per set), 32 aces (0.5 per set) and 23 blocks (0.3 per set) according to her MaxPreps profile.
On the club circuit, Martin plays with Aleta Volleyball Club. She owns a 7’5″ standing reach, a 9’3″ block touch and a 9’5″ approach jump. Her NCSA recruiting profile can be seen here with her Hudl page here; each show video/highlights of her play.
West Virginia State, who is coached by Kris Kern and plays in the Division II classification, is coming off of a 14-16 season in which they finished 6-10 as a member of the Mountain East Conference (MEC).
