Three Serbian families were handed keys to their new homes after flooding in 2014. These families were able to obtain these homes through donations from the FIVB, the CEV and the Serbian Volleyball Federation.
In 2014 the Serbian Volleyball Federation launched a project to build houses for families that were affected by the flooding in the Balkans. The families that recently received homes, were put into the first three homes built in the city of Ub.
Plaques with the names of the respective donors were unveiled by the CEV President and FIVB 2nd Executive Vice-President Aleksandar Boricic, the Lord Mayor of Ub Darko Glisic and Mr Ivan Knezevic, the Secretary General of the Serbia Volleyball Federation.
The Families
Ms Tanja Bozovic is a single mother of four children, that will move into the house that was donated by the CEV.
Donated by the FIVB, the Jovanovic family, which consists of four brother and a sister, are moved into a home.
Mr Vladimir Stojanovic, a single father, is set to live with his two daughters and one son in the home donated by the Serbia Volleyball Federation.
“When this major disaster happened in 2014, I collected photos of the affected areas and showed them to my friends in the FIVB and the CEV, and to some people from the national volleyball federation,” Mr Boricic said.
“They all promised to help, and I am happy that now, finally, we can officially donate these first three houses to people in need,” said Boricic.
