The 2017 German women’s Bundesliga finals have been set with Schwerin and Stuttgart set to face each other after taking down their semifinal opponents.
Schwerin breezed through their opponent Wiesbaden in straight matches in their best-of-three series, while Stuttgart had more of a challenge against Dresden, using all three matches to determine a winner.
The finals will be a best-of-five series – the schedule will be:
- First match – April 19
- Second match – April 22
- Third match – April 26
- Fourth match (if needed) – April 29
- Fifth match (if needed) – May 3
Schwerin vs. Wiesbaden
In the first meeting between the two teams, Schwerin rolled right through Wiesbaden in three sets 3-0, (25-15, 25-16-25-22). The MVP of the match went to Alexa Dannemiller who was instrumental for the team to win with her tough serves.
The second match went to four sets, with Schwerin still on top, claiming their finals appearance 3-1, (26-24, 17-25, 25-17, 25-15). Brinker scored a total of 18 points in the win, with 14 kills, three blocks and one aced serve.
Stuttgart vs. Dresden
The first two matches of the series were determined by five sets, with Dresden jumping to a 1-0 lead in the series with the first win 3-2, (25-21, 20-25, 20-25, 29-27, 15-11). Stuttgart turned it around in the second to win after being down in the match 1-2 to force a third and deciding match. The scores of the second match: 3-2, (25-21, 22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-9).
In the final match of the semifinal series, Stuttgart made easy work of Dresden with a 3-0, (25-17, 25-19, 25-16) sweep to advance to the finals.
