Serbia & Poland Roll To 3 Set Wins At Women’s European Qualifier

2018 FIVB World Championship – Women’s European Qualifier

The first day of Pool B in Poland at the 2018 FIVB World Championship Women’s European Qualifier concludes with the Czech Republic, Serbia and Poland coming out on top with wins. The Pool B field is playing nearly a week before any of the other pools begin on May 31.

The Czech Republic def. Slovakia

  • 3-1, (18-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-16)

The Czech Republic was able to overcome a minor first set loss to comeback in the next three to down Slovakia without a problem in the final three sets of the match.

Leading the pack was Michaela Mlejnkova who put down 20 points in the match with 17 coming off kills. For Slovakia, Dominika Drobnakova was able to contribute four aces while teammate Nina Herelova added four blocks in the losing effort.

Serbia def. Iceland

  • 3-0, (25-13, 25-15, 25-9)

Serbia had no troubles at all rolling to a three-set sweep over Iceland in the first round of the qualifiers. The match took just over an hour to complete with Iceland only scoring 37 points the entire match.

For Serbia, Brankica Mihajlovic led the team with 15 total points with 11 coming off kills and her other four points off aces. Bianka Busa added a match-best five aces.

Poland def. Cyprus

  • 3-0, (25-14, 25-17, 25-15)

The Polish squad was able to take down Cyprus in an each three-set sweep in the first round of the qualifier. The match took just over an hour as the hosts of the qualifier advance on with a win.

Leading the Polish in points was Natalia Medrzyk with 12, having seven kills and a match-best five aces.
