Brazil Wins With Ease, While China Fights For Win At U21 Championships

Pool D has ended their first day of play at the Men’s U2 World Championship, with China and Brazil winning their matches. China rolled to a four-set victory, faltering slightly in the third set, while Brazil cruised to a straight set win over Egypt.

China def. Japan

China proved to be too strong for the Japanese squad, taking them down in a tough four set match. The first two sets went to the Chinese, while they faltered slightly in the third, giving Japan a glimmering beam of hope in the match. However, the Japanese squad was unable to keep their third set momentum rolling into the fourth, dropping the match.

The Chinese crew relied on their block and Japnese errors to push them through the match. Though Japan led in attacks and service aces.

For China, Yuantal Yu put down a team-best 20 points on 15 kills, four blocks and one ace. Jingyl Wang and Lei Guo each contributed 14 points in the victory while Zixuan Tao added another 12 points.

Leading Japan was Kento Miyaura who slammed down a match-best 23 points. Yudal Aral and Kenyu Nakamoto added 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Brazil def. Egypt

• 3-0, (25-20, 25-18, 25-18)

Brazil used a strong attack to take down the Egyptian squad in straight sets. In most other regards to the match, the was fairly even, with mistakes from Egypt throwing off any chances of success.

For Brazil, Felipe Moreira Roque put down 15 points while Victor Aleksander Almeida Cardoso added another 11 in the victory.

Egypt’s Yasser Soliman and Abdelrahman Seoudy each put down eight points in the loss.
