MyKel Ivy, a 2019 recruit from Muncie, Indiana, has made her decision of where she plans on spending her collegiate days as the 6’1″ middle blocker chose Ball State. Just a soon-to-be junior in high school, Ivy won’t join the program until the fall of 2019.
In her sophomore season with in Muncie, she finished with a team-best 484 kills. Not only was that most on the team, it shattered the competition and was over 300 more than any other teammate as she ranked 14th in the state of Indiana in kills overall. Not to mention she added 81 blocks and 51 aces to her resume.
“On my very first visit, everything was just perfect,” Ivy said to The Star Press in Indiana. “It just felt right. It’s really close and it has everything I want in a campus.”
Not only did Ivy have a good stat-line, she also is a two-time national champion on the AAU circuit. She was part of the 2015 Open team that won a national title in addition to the 2016 Open. She will try to bring her talent and winning aura with her in a few years as she becomes part of the Cardinals program.
Ball State went 13-18 in the 2016 season and had a winning record (9-7) in the MAC. They last made the NCAA Tournament in 2011, when they won 25 games, as since 2010 they’ve collected 24 or more match wins over the span of three seasons.
