Alexa Smith Helps Colorado to 2/3 of the Latest Pac-12 Weekly Awards

In the latest Pac-12 weekly awards, the Colorado Buffaloes took home two-thirds of the awards after a perfect 3-0 week that included a win at a top-20 Colorado State squad. The honors only add on to a strong week for Colorado, who earned a spot at number 20 in the latest VolleyMob Top 25.

The first Colorado player awarded was junior Alexa Smith, who took home the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week. In the team’s three victories, Smith averaged 4.56 kills and 3.33 digs per set while hitting .241. Helping those averages were her two double-doubles, including 25 kills and 15 digs in the team’s marquee win against Colorado State in Fort Collins. The honor is Smith’s first weekly accolade in Smith’s career.

Joining Smith from Colorado was the player feeding her the ball in Brynna Deluzio, who won the conference’s Freshman of the Week. Deluzio totaled 11.92 assists and 2.83 digs per set en route to the Colorado’s first ever Pac-12 Freshman of the Week award. Her most eye-popping statistical match came when she had 55 assists and 15 digs in just four sets in a win over Xavier.

Crowding the Colorado award-party was the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week in Arizona State’s Halle Harker. The senior libero averaged 6.10 digs and 1.80 assists per set as the Sun Devils went 3-0 for the week and only dropped one set of action. This isn’t the only notable achievement for Harker, who also moved into third in school history in total digs with her performance.
