The CEV Men’s Volleyball European Championship Field Has Been Drawn

The draw for the final leg of the CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men has concluded.

There will be 16 teams competing in various locations across Europe. The tournament will take place from August 23 until September 3 of 2017.

The Drawing of Lots (DOL) ceremony for the EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 was held in Krakow at the Juliusz Slowacki Theatre, where all 16 teams were presented. Besides the host team of Poland, Italy, Russia and France were seeded as head of Pools A, B, C and D, respectively.

The DOL drew for the four preliminary pools as follows:

Pool A in Gdansk: Poland, Serbia Finland, Estonia

Pool B in Szczecin: Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic

Pool C in Krakow: Russia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Spain

Pool D in Katowice: France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Turkey

In 2015, France took their first European title in Sofia, Bulgaria. This is their seventh medal won at the event since it began in 1948. Their previous medal grabs were four silver and two bronze.

Teams to watch for at the tournament which takes place next year are Rio 2016 silver medalist Italy and 2015’s champion France. Germany, The Netherlands each had great qualifying rounds going 6-0, to-be top contenders in the tournament.
