Cincinnati redshirt junior Jordan Thompson averaged an eye-popping 7.45 kills per set and posted a .394 attack percentage to secure the program’s second all-time AVCA Player of the Week accolade and the first since Sept. 21, 2010 (Stephanie Niemer).

The 6-4 outside/right side hitter registered 35 kills with 8 digs and 4 blocks in a 5-set loss to Indiana, while hitting .316. She followed it up with a 32 kill, 5 block and 5 dig performance in a 4-set win over crosstown rival Xavier, posting a .435 attack percentage. Her 32 kills mark an AAC record in a 4-set win. In a 3-set win against Eastern Kentucky, Thompson led her team with 15 kills and hit an ultra-efficient .542 in the match.
In the 3 match weekend, which produced a 2-1 mark for the Bearcats, Thompson also averaged 1.45 digs and 0.82 blocks per set. She also served up 6 aces.

For her efforts, Thompson was tabbed AAC Offensive Player of the Week for the 3rd week in a row.

The Edina, Minn., native, leads the Bearcats with 318 kills (6.24 per set) and is third on the team with 111 digs (2.18 per set) through 12 matches this season. She is hitting .327 on the year with a team-high 19 aces.
Thompson, who redshirted last season, earned AVCA All-American honorable mention accolades and was unanimously selected AAC Player of the Year. She is the first player to be unanimously selected player of the year in league history.
Thompson is the fastest player at Cincinnati and all of the AAC to reach the 1,000 career kills mark and the only sophomore to reach the milestone all-time. In 2015, she was named AAC Freshman of the Year and to the AAC first team.
Cincinnati was narrowly chosen to finish runner-up in the conference’s preseason poll, receiving 5 first place votes and 108 points. Reigning AAC Champion Wichita State edged the Bearcats, who are off to a 9-3 start, with 6 first place votes and 113 points.
