Class of 2018 (2019 in terms of his first season of play) middle blocker Daniel Matheney has committed to the UCLA Men’s Volleyball program. A current junior at Bishop Montgomery High School, Matheney was also a member of the 2017 U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team.

A 6’6″ middle blocker from Lawndale, California, Matheney played with Team USA’s youth program this past summer during the FIVB Boys’ Under-19 World Championship.

On a prep level, Matheney attends Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, California as a middle blocker and outside hitter. He also plays with Team Rockstar on the club level.

The UCLA Men’s Volleyball team was 17-10 last season and 10-8 in the competitive MPSF. That was good enough to finish the season ranked sixth. In terms of this year’s roster, UCLA has five middle blockers and seven players who can play outside hitter. Of that group four are upperclassmen set to graduate before Matheney arrives.
