Class of 2020 recruit Alison Hinze has committed to the North Dakota State University women’s volleyball program. A 5’11” outside hitter and defensive specialist/libero, Hinze becomes the first commit registered in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database for NDSU to join the team in the fall of 2020.
A sophomore at Maple Grove High School in Minnesota, Hinze helped to push the Crimson to a 22-7 season in which they made the 5AAA Semifinals. Hinze mostly played a defensive role as a defensive specialist/back-row outside hitter. Her size would translate well to playing in the front row in the future, though she’s shown a strong affinity for defense.
It was Hinze’s third season on varsity despite being in her second year of high school, as she joined the team to compete as an eighth grader. This past season she notched 430 digs (4.8 per set), 63 assists (0.7 per set), 38 kills (0.4 per set) and 31 aces (0.3 per set) according to her MaxPreps profile.
Hinze also continues her prep career on the club circuit, where she plays with Minnesota Select Volleyball Club and the 16-1s team. According to Hinze’s NCSA recruiting profile, she owns a 7’6″ standing reach, a 9’2″ block touch and a 9’7″ approach jump. On her club team she is just listed as an outside hitter.
The North Dakota State Bison are coming off of a 19-9 season including a 9-5 mark in the Summit League before they lost in the conference tournament’s semifinals round.
