The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced their players of the week, starting with Dayton’s Mackenzie Weaver who is the overall Player of the Week. Also being honored are VCU’s Rebekah Strange along with Fordham’s McKenna Lahr and Saint Louis’ Maya Taylor.
Player of the Week
Mackenzie Weaver – Dayton – sophomore
Weaver averaged 3.29 kills per set for the week. In the team’s win over George Mason, Weaver slammed down a career-best 13 kills on a .440 hitting clip while posting another 10 kills and eight digs in the team’s win over George Washington. Weaver posted a .327 hitting percentage for the weekend along with 1.71 digs and 0.85 blocks per set.
Defensive Player of the Week
Rebekah Strange – VCU – senior
Strange picked up an average of 5.33 digs per set including a 7.67 digs per set average in the team’s sweep over Rhode Island. Additionally, Strange recorded nine assists and three aces.
Freshmen of the Week
McKenna Lahr – Fordham – freshman
Lahr posted eight aces in the team’s five-set win over Davidson, which set a program record while also recording six kills, 11 digs and three blocks in the win. The following match, Lahr posted 10 kills on a .409 hitting clip along with seven digs.
Maya Taylor – Saint Louis – freshman
Taylor slammed down 22 kills for an average of 3.67 kills per set in Saint Louis’ winning weekend. Against George Washington, Taylor posted eight kills while leading the team with 14 kills against George Mason.
