Now in her 27th season with Florida, the Gator’s head coach, Mary Wise has now surpassed the 800 win mark with one school. This feat has only been accomplished by three other Division I coaches and 1o other NCAA divisional schools.
Wise surpassed the 800 mark in the teams win over Northern Kentucky on September 15 and since then has won two more matches, increasing her total to 802. Florida has started their season with an 8-0 start which earns them the top spot in the VolleyMob rankings and #3 in the AVCA Coaches Rankings.
Overall, Wise has 883 wins to her name as a Division I head volleyball coach, with is the 10th most in Division I history. Prior to her tenure at Florida, Wise served as the Iowa State head coach from 1981-84, building up an 81-63 record as the youngest head coach in Division I history at 21 years old. With her combined win-loss record (883-162) Wise has a .845 winning percentage, which is second-most among Division I coaches.

Wise’s accomplishments set a new level for women’s coaches as well, as she was the first female head coach to reach 500 then 800 career wins and is close to becoming the first to hit 900.
The Gators will continue their 2017 season and the start of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with Arkansas on Sunday, September 24 in Fayetteville.
