A former high school and club volleyball coach in Indiana has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child and trafficking child pornography.
24-year-old Nolan Brand was an assistant volleyball coach for Muncie Central High School and a coach with the Munciana Volleyball club when he was arrested in December 2017, according to the local ABC affiliate. A 15-year-old girl and her mother went to the police with allegations that Brand had had sex with the girl in September and had threatened to blackmail her after she broke off the relationship.
Brand admitted to police that he’d had sex with the girl more than a dozen times, and his phone contained videos of the two engaging in sex acts. Messages on the victims phone also confirmed that Brand knew the girl was underage, as he had talked to the girl about her 15th birthday.
Authorities also found sexually explicit pictures on Brand’s tablet of a second victim. Now legally an adult, the second girl said she had been in a relationship with Brand when she was 15 or 16, telling federal investigators that Brand “liked his girlfriends on the young side.” She said Brand had “regularly” asked her to take pictures of herself in underwear or nude.
The Indiana Lawyer reports that Brand has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child, attempted sexual exploitation of a child and trafficking in child pornography.
“This Office has sent a consistent message when it comes to the exploitation of children,” said Southern Indiana District Attorney Josh Minkler in the Lawyer report. “When individuals abuse their position of trust to prey on children, they will feel the full force of the federal hammer.”
Kind of odd when men do anything with minor girls “they will feel the full force of the federal hammer”! When female teachers have affairs with minor males, probation and 3 months in the county lock up is good enough …
A minor is a minor, and abuse is the same, or should be, but it isnt.
