The Netherlands have selected a new director for the nation’s volleyball federation: Guido Davio.

Davio took over the role as of October 1, according to Volleybal.nl. The 37-year-old joins the volleyball federation after a 4-year stint with the Royal Dutch Hockey Federation, known as KNHB in the Netherlands. Davio had been in the hockey position since 2012.

He takes over for Joelle Staps, who had been heading the Netherlands volleyball organization since January of 2012. The volleyball and hockey federations are based out of the same building, per Volleybal.nl, so Davio was already familiar with Staps and her work with Nevobo, the volleyball federation.

A rough translation of the Volleybal.nl story’s quotes from Davio:

“I’ve seen in recent years that Nevobo worked hard to structure and put the organization in order,” Davio said. “Joëlle Staps I knew already from various groups, so therefore I have a pretty picture that development within its policy has been deployed.”

“In the Year 2015, I watched Volleyball, Beach Volleyball with the World Cup and the European Championships for women, and more recently to the Olympics with admiration and respect,” he said. “Nevobo has guts and entrepreneurship shown by being innovative, and ensured that every volleyball player could be very proud of his sport.”
