The University of Hawaii indoor women’s volleyball team has garnered the commitment from Kate Lang, a class of 2020 recruit. A native of Texas, Lang is a sophomore in high school and plays the setter position.
Lang attends Keller High School, who went 32-12 and 11-1 in district play this past season before advancing to the Regional Quarterfinals of the Texas 6A State Championship.
Individually in her second season of varsity ball, Lang notched 927 assists (8.1 per set), 358 digs (3.1 per set), 90 kills (0.8 per set), 47 aces (0.4 per set) and 25 blocks (0.2 per set) according to her MaxPreps profile.
Additionally, Lang plays with Texas Advantage Volleyball (TAV) on the club side – specifically the TAV 16 Black team. Their team page – featuring roster and recent tournament finishes – can be seen here.
Hawaii is fresh off of a 20-8 season in 2017 in which they went 14-2 playing in the Big West conference before making the NCAA Tournament. All three setters from that team are on pace to have graduated by the time Lang arrives – meaning the only players returning to her position group will be ones added by the Rainbow Wahine in the coming years.
