Involves directing or assisting with developing the student-athlete physically, competitively and emotionally. Enhances the execution of competitive sports, manages team, recruits, fundraises and may determine competitive schedules.
In partnership with head coach, the assistant coach helps develop strategies for developing and maintaining large and or highly visible intercollegiate sports programs. Responsible for overseeing specific aspects of the sports program including, but not limited to, individual player development, teaching position skill-work, planning and execution of practice and games, opponent scouts/film breakdown, on and off-campus recruiting, conditioning programs, fundraising events, and various administrative duties for team travel.
Must be attentive to detail; keep accurate records; and possess an ability to work with a diverse constituency, including but not limited to students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff administrators, prospective students, and other outside contacts. Must foster an environment of NCAA compliance. May provide guidance to other personnel. Assumes head coach responsibilities as needed. Additionally staff are expected to embrace the NCAA DIII philosophy and UCSC Principles of Community. The Assistant Coach reports directly to the Head Coach. Work schedule often includes: evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Candidates must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Will be required to complete Title IX (Sexual Harassment) training within one month of hire.
Will be required to complete Title IX (Sexual Harassment) training every two years.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience and or training with a college-level program.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with athletic participants.
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making; be an effective problem solver and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Specialized knowledge of the team sport or activity, as well as basic technical expertise in coaching principles.
Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the campus adheres, and at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT for VOLLEYBALL for 2018-19
Position: Graduate Assistant in Athletics to assist with the coaching of the TWU Volleyball team, as assigned by the head coach.
Eligibility: This position may be filled by a graduate student seeking a master’s or a doctoral degree. To receive a graduate assistantship, a student must be admitted to the TWU Graduate School and be accepted into a University graduate program of her/his choice. The graduate student must be in good academic standing at TWU to hold a graduate assistantship.
Conditions of Employment: Graduate assistantships are nine-month appointments from September through May. The graduate assistant stipend is approximately $9,684 ($1,076 per month) for a master’s candidate and $11,808 ($1,312 per month) for a doctoral candidate. In-state tuition must be paid, but the additional cost for an out-of-state student may be waived provided the candidate meets the appropriate academic standards. The Director of Athletics has the option of hiring the GA for a tenth month (August) at the same monthly pay rate as their nine-month appointment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach and assistant coach in the continuing development and maintenance of a nationally competitive women’s volleyball program.
- Perform responsible program building including planning, coaching, and recruiting.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the head coach.
- Recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
- Monitor study hall and academic progress.
- Coordinate game and practice filming.
- Assist with various community service projects.
- Successfully complete all required NCAA Online Coaches Education Courses.
- Other assigned administrative duties.
- Commit to and be responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the NCAA and the Lone Star Conference with the utmost integrity.
- Work cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, attend department meetings and activities, and always represent the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, club coaches, media and general public.
- Implement Athletics’ strategic plan as part of the Division of Student Life’s strategic plan.

Head Coach Women’s Volleyball

Urbana University, a branch campus of Franklin University, has an opening for a full-time Women’s Head Volleyball Coach. The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the program to include successfully managing, developing, and implementing all aspects of the Urbana University, Division II Women’s Volleyball Program. Key responsibilities include recruiting, budgeting, fundraising, alumni relations, community engagement, planning, evaluating, organizing, scheduling, promoting, training and conditioning, skill instruction, student-athlete and staff development, academic support, compliance, and game plan preparation and strategy. Additional duties may be assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics.
A Bachelor’s degree is required with a Master’s degree being preferred. Prior collegiate experience as a student athlete in the sport of Women’s Volleyball is preferred with demonstrated success building and promoting a program being preferred. The successful candidate will have prior recruiting experience as well as experience with athletic fundraising, alumni relations and community engagement in addition to previous budgetary management experience. We seek someone with well-established recruiting networks, particularly within Ohio and the Midwest who is adept at social media. Candidates should have familiarity and working knowledge of women’s volleyball rules and commitment to a strong compliance culture. The selected individual should possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills and a commitment to the academic and life skills development of student-athletes. Finally, we seek someone with effective administrative skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
