In the first leg of the Polish Men’s PlusLiga finals, Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle showed their dominance on the court with a three set sweep over Belchatow. The 3-0, (27-25, 25-21, 25-19) victory for Zaksa is the first of a best-of-three finals series.
The first set of the finals was a close race to the see who would finish on top. The beginning started out in the favor of Belchatow 12-9, but Zaksa fought back after a timeout was called to bring the score within one point. From there, the game was a battle of back and forth point trade-offs, with Zaksa coming out on top in extra points 27-25.
The second set started much the same as the first, with Zaksa down a few points but this time until the end of the set. Belchatow took a quick 10-6 lead over Zaksa, holding on until they were able to catch up late at 20-19. From here, Zaksa went on a 6-2 run to end the set, taking the 2-0 lead in the match.
The final set, Zaksa was able to take better control of the set, starting off with a 4-0 lead, maintaining their lead until they took the third set and the match at 15-19.
The MVP of the match went to Dawid Konarski.
The next finals match will be on April 23. With a Zaksa win, the champion will be crowned, but a Belchatow victory would result in a third finals match to determine the winner.
