In its home opener, which attracted a sellout crowd of 7,052 fans to UW Fieldhouse, 6th-ranked Wisconsin dethroned 2nd-ranked Texas in 4 sets. It was the 5th-largest crowd in UW volleyball history and the largest since Oct. 21, 2017, when the Badgers welcomed 10,326 fans for their match against 2nd-ranked Penn State.
The Badgers are 3-0 against the Longhorns in the last 10 years, and tied the all-time series, 4-4, with the win.

Wisconsin outscored the Longhorns, 5-1, to begin the first set and never gave up control. The Badgers led for the rest of the way to secure the 25-21 win.
Texas came out strong in the second set, rattling off 4-straight points to kick it off and force a Badger timeout. Wisconsin fought its way back and the teams went back and forth through 8 ties from there. The Badgers distanced themselves with a 3-0 run late and held on from there to edge the Longhorns, 25-22.
The Badgers led early in the third set until the Longhorns rattled off 5-straight points to establish a 15-13 lead. Seven ties followed before Texas closed it out with a 3-0 run for the 25-23 win.
In the fourth set, Wisconsin was nothing short of dominant. The Badgers registered a .367 attack percentage and held the Longhorns to just .091 to put the match away at 25-12. Seven errors doomed the Longhorns’ comeback bid.

Sophomore Grace Loberg had herself a night for Wisconsin, notching a double-double with 19 kills, a team-leading 18 digs and an impressive .457 attack percentage. Redshirt sophomore Molly Haggerty also turned in a strong performance with a double-double (16 kills, 15 digs) and a .324 attack percentage. Sophomore Sydney Hilley dished out 50 assists for the Badgers.
Junior Micaya White led Texas with 16 kills and 11 digs for a double-double. Freshman Logan Eggleston also contributed 16 kills. Sophomore Ashley Shook distributed 45 assists, while freshman Sydney Petersen notched a team-high 14 digs.
