With a 32-dig performance in the team’s victory over Notre Dame Sunday afternoon, redshirt junior Makenzie Kuchmaner set the NC State volleyball rally-scoring era record for digs in a 4-set match. It is also the highest single-match total for any ACC player so far this season.

The previous record was 28 held by Andrea Bentley, who accomplished the feat in 2007 against Akron. That total is tied for the overall rally-scoring era record, as Rachel Eppley also had 32 digs in a five-set match against Notre Dame in 2015.

The 32-dig haul is the third highest total for a Wolfpack player in an ACC match behind Stephanie Taylor’s 36 vs. Virginia (11/22/85) and Meredith Price’s 34 vs. North Carolina (10/31/2000). It tops Kelly Wood’s tally of 30 against Virginia Tech (11/19/11) for the rally scoring record.

Kuchmaner’s performance helped the Wolfpack post 94 digs in the match, the second-most recorded in a 4-set match in program history and the second-highest total by any ACC team in a 4-set match this year.

Through 12 matches in 2018, Kuchmaner has already set a season-high dig total with 238. The Waxhaw, N.C., native recorded 107 digs in 2015 and 195 digs in 2017. In her career thus far, she has logged 540 digs (2.7 per set) in 64 matches played.

In the match, 5 different players registered double-digit dig totals for the first time this season. Kuchmaner led the way with 32 digs, followed by junior Grace Irvin (13), freshman Jade Parchment (12), redshirt freshman Kaylee Frazier (12) and senior Kylie Pickrell (10).

On the season, NC State has compiled a 7-5 record overall. The Wolfpack is 1-1 in ACC action, falling to Louisville in 4 sets and downing Notre Dame in 4 sets. VolleyMob projected NC State to finish 8th in conference standings during the preseason.
