For the very first time in their program history, the McKendree men’s volleyball team is receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. McKendree received two votes, which would technically put them as the 17th ranked team in the country.

McKendree is currently 4-6 overall and 2-1 in MIVA action after they swept Lindenwood on January 18 and split their last week of matches against Fort Wayne (L, 2-3) and Ball State (W, 3-1).

The Bearcats will look to springboard off of the news to more success, as a difficult schedule in the MIVA awaits them. They’ll step out of conference this week for a match with UC San Diego which will precede a five-match stretch that includes matches with Quincy and four top-10 opponents in Loyola Chicago, Lewis and Ohio State twice.

The McKendree men’s volleyball team came to be in the Division II classification starting in 2014 as they’ve gone from eight wins to 11 the past three seasons. They’ll look to clear that mark after already reaching one program first in this latest ranking.
