Recently the Netherlands women’s national team raised 41,790 euros for the Rode Kruis (Red Cross) of the Netherlands. You can see below the team revealing the amount that they were able to raise for the organization with enthusiasm in front of a cheering crowd.

The team was able to raise this amount prior to the beginning of the 2017 CEV European Women’s Championships silver medal run. The Dutch women started the tournament with a 2-1 pool play record, meaning that they would have to play in the playoffs stage because they didn’t come in first in their pool. In the playoffs stage, the Dutch flew through Croatia in straight sets before downing Italy with the same fate in the quarterfinals.

The semifinals saw a more difficult challenge for the Netherlands, as they faced a strong Azerbaijan team that took them to five sets before advancing to the finals. The finals are where the Dutch met against Serbia for the second time in the competition, losing in four sets to claim the silver medal.

Players like Lonneke Sloetjes and Anne Buijs are among just some of the Dutch players to help contribute to the Red Cross of the Netherlands.
