The Polish Women’s Volleyball League is set to begin this coming week, starting with matches on October 14-16 across all 14 teams in the league.
Last season, Chemik Police took the top spot in the league, defeating Budowlani Lodz in the finals. Chemik finished the season with a 23-3 record while Wroclaw, the league’s second-place finisher ended with a 21-5 record. Wroclaw finished in fourth in the playoffs behind Rzeszow who took the bronze medal but had an overall better record to maintain their #2 positioning.
On the cusp of making the playoffs last season, Dabrowa Gornicza and LKS Lodz finished in fifth and sixth places, respectively.
To start off training this season, Chemik Police had to travel to other teams to begin practice, as they did not have enough players due to the 2017 EuroVolley Championships taking place just weeks ago. The championships ended on October 1, meaning that some teams in the league have only been able to practice with their full squads for a matter of a week and a half before opening up the season.
You will be able to keep up with your favorite Polish women’s teams through social media and the team’s websites. Along with this, three hashtags will be used to help you track teams progress on Twitter:
