As always, Nebraska has players locked in to future recruiting classes to keep things rolling in Lincoln. One of those future commitments is Kenzie Knuckles, a 2019 recruit from Yorktown, Indiana.
Knuckles made her allegiance to Nebraska known last year when she was a sophomore, as now she is a junior at Yorktown High School. At 5’7″, Knuckles is an outside hitter/defensive specialist in her prep career, but will likely move over to the defensive specialist/libero role at Nebraska.
In 2015, Yorktown High School advanced to the Indiana 3A State Championship match before falling to Providence High School in straight sets. Knuckles led the charge on the season with 364 kills and 378 digs, but the team fell just short of the ultimate goal. Last season they made the same destination – again with just one loss to their name. Facing Providence once more, Knuckles helped the team get revenge with 30 kills and 18 digs to win the state title as they finished 37-1 in 2016.
On the club side, Knuckles plays with Munciana Volleyball and has won plenty of team hardware. Her performance in high school and at Munciana helped her earn time with the USA Volleyball Girls’ National Training Team as well.
Nebraska is coming off back-to-back Final Four berths in 2017 and has three defensive specialists/liberos on the current roster. Of those three, two are on pace to graduate by 2019 when Knuckles is set to arrive on campus in Lincoln.
