Despite reports indicating she’d land in Japan, star Russian outside hitter Tatiana Kosheleva will be staying in Turkey for next season, transferring to Galatasaray from Eczacibasi.
Kosheleva is one of the top outside hitters in all of Europe, and a staple of Russia’s national team for a decade, since she was 18. She helped Russia win World Championships gold in 2010 along with European Championships golds in 2013 and 2015.
She spent last season on a one-year deal with Eczacibasi, finishing fourth in the FIVB Club World Championship. Earlier this week, Russian and Turkish news outlets started reporting that Kosheleva would be transferring to the NEC Red Rockets of Japan’s V-League. But that development fell through by the end of the week, as Turkey’s Galatasaray announced its pickup of the star outside hitter via social media.
