AVCA Under Armour Girls High School First-Team All-American and MaxPreps National Athlete of the Year Thayer Hall was already known to be joining Florida, but now it’s official that she will be enrolling early. That means she will take part in classes in Gainesville for the upcoming spring semester (classes begin January 8).

“Thayer will be headed to UF this spring,” Hall’s mother Mel told VolleyMob. “She’s been accepted and is packing.”

A 6’4″ outside hitter from Roebuck, South Carolina, Hall’s list of accolades seemingly doesn’t end. She put up monstrous numbers (2,299 kills, 1,300 digs and 200 aces in four seasons) for Dorman High School, is seen as the top recruit in the country and was the MVP of the U20 Pan American Cup despite being the only high school athlete on Team USA.

Her final stamp on her prep career was recently at the Under Armour All-America match, when Hall put down 29 kills on a .314 mark. Sure enough, she was named the Team East MVP.

The move comes at an important transition period for the Gators, who are losing two AVCA All-America honoree outside hitters in Carli Snyder and Shainah Joseph to graduation. Having Hall, who likely slides into one of those spots along with last year’s freshman darling Paige Hammons, enroll early should speed up the process of how ready she is come the 2018 season in the fall.

Florida is coming off of a 30-2 season in which they were co-SEC champions and made it to their second ever National Championship match appearance.
