Turkish Women: Eczacibasi Sweeps Through A Strong VakifBank Squad

Round 7 of the Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi has finished, with Eczacibasi VitrA downing one of the unbeaten (VakifBank) to move the number of undefeated teams to two. This will, again, change following Round 8 as well, as Eczacibasi and Fenerbahce, the two undefeated teams in the Turkish women’s league, face off for the top spot.

Fenerbahce stays unbeaten after taking down Ilbank who has not won any matches yet this season. The squad was led by Polina Rahimova with 12 points followed by Guidetti Bahar Toksoy who contributed another 10.

In a battle of the undefeated, Eczacibasi VitrA took down VakifBank in straight sets. Tijana Boskovic was the dominant force on the court, slamming down 23 points along with Beyza Arici‘s 10. Three other players recorded nine points – Meliha Ismailoglu, Jordan Larson and Bursa Kilicli. Of all players on VakifBank, Milena Rasic led the way with six points while three other posted five points apiece – Zhu Ting, Kubra Caliskan and Lonneke Sloetjes.
