Turkish Women: VakifBank, Eczacibasi & Fenerbahce Roll To 3-0 Starts

VakifBank Istanbul, Eczacibasi VitrA and Fenerbahce each won their third matches in the Turkish Sultanlar Ligi. The three squads are now the lone unbeaten in the league, while Galatasaray and Seramiksan follow behind in second place.

Seeing their first win in the league this season was Halkbank over Seramiksan. Halkbank began their season with a tough start, battling against VakifBank and Fenerbahce in their first two meetups of the season. Bursa B. also saw their first win over Canakkale Bld. in the three-set showing, while Galatasaray fell for the first time this season against Eczacibasi VitrA.

Zhu Ting and Lonneke Sloetjes led VakifBank to their 3-0 victory over Besiktas, though the scoring was fairly evenly distributed. Ting finished with 13 points while Sloetjes followed behind with 12. Playing a dominant role in Fenerbahce’s win over Beylikduzu was Polina Rahimova with 27 points while Mia Jerkov followed with 13.

For Eczacibasi, Tijana Boskovic took control of the court with 17 points in the teams win over Galatasaray while Meliha Ismailoglu and Busra Kilicli added another 13 and 11 points, respectively.
