As the top two teams in the 2018 NORCECA U19 Continental Championship, the United States Boys’ Youth National Team and Cuba have locked in their spot for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Boys World Championship. In doing so, they became some of the first teams to clinch a spot in the worldwide event next summer.
While the next destination has not been set to this point, the host will take up one of the 20 spots for nations in the tournament.
If the 2019 version works in the same way as 2017, the remaining 19 spots are divvied out from the European Championship (six), Asian Championship (four), NORCECA Championship (two), African Championship (two), South American Championship (two) and the Pan American Cup (three).
Obviously those spots from the NORCECA have been locked in, as have the six from the European Championship. USA and Cuba will join the top six finishers in Italy, Czech Republic (the European runner-ups), Germany (the European Champions), Russia (the 2017 World Championship runner-ups), Belarus and Bulgaria.
Rounding things out will be the other events, with the African Championship, the South American Championship, the Pan American Cup (in 2019) and the Asian Championship (in 2019). All of those will take place on from 2018 through 2019 leading up to the 2019 U19 World Championship, although the official dates for those events have yet to be officially announced online.
