Brazil is coming off a challenging five-set win over Team USA on day four of the World Grand Champions Cup and will take their turn at Japan on the final day.
Brazil needs a win to give them a fighting chance at fighting chance at first place – while also needing Italy to lose. Both Brazil and Italy could end the tournament with 4-1 records, but it will come down to points scored, sets ratio and points ratio if this is the case.
Wallace de Souza has led the Brazilian front throughout the competition, having put down 65 points so far, while Ricardo Lucarelli Souza is not far behind with 59 points. The two have been the driving forces for Brazil and will need to continue their dominance to repeat at World Grand Champions Cup champions.
Japan has struggled in the competition, not winning a single match. Issei Otake has been the best scorer for the Japanese team with 34 points.
