WCC: BYU Continues Dominance in League Action, Pacific Also Sweeps

BYU continues to show why it is the top team nationally with a dominant performance against Pepperdine to earn the sweep Tuesday night in WCC play. Pacific also notched a sweep over Santa Clara, while San Diego and Saint Mary’s turned in 4-set victories.

#1 BYU def. Pepperdine 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-21)

Top-ranked BYU showed its dominance in every way with a win in straight sets against Pepperdine Tuesday night to give head coach Heather Olmstead her 100th victory at the helm of the program.

The Cougars registered a .356 attack percentage, while holding the Waves to .170, and held the blocking edge, 9 to 3.

BYU has now won 13-straight matches against Pepperdine, a streak dating back to the 2012 season. The Cougars move to 3-0 in WCC action with the victory.

Saint Mary’s snapped a 6-match win streak for the Dons, though San Francisco was able to win its first set against the Gaels since 2015 and break a sweep streak of 4 consecutive matches.
