Following another 3-0 week, Wichita State is bringing home their second straight American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award as Tabitha Brown secures the second week’s honors. A week prior it was setter Emily Hiebert winning the accolade for the Shockers as they’ve won 100 percent of the weekly offensive awards since joining the AAC (as this is their first year).
Brown, a junior outside hitter for Wichita State, helped the team turn to 6-0 as they are currently on the fringe of the latest VolleyMob Top 25. From an individual standpoint, Brown won the IUPUI Inn Invitational MVP behind 4.58 kills (while hitting .316), 2.67 digs and 0.58 blocks per set over the span of three matches. In the team’s highlight come from behind victory over Marquette, she remained steady with 21 kills and 18 digs and finished off the match with an ace.
Joining Brown on the latest AAC weekly awards was Taylor Horsfall, a sophomore libero from Tulsa. Horsfall claims the second week’s AAC Defensive Player of the Week as just like Brown and Wichita State, she assisted her team in a 3-0 weekend as she earned all-tournament honors at the Cougar Classic. For the three matches of play she notched 6.18 digs and 1.27 assists per set with her highlight match coming against UMKC when she had 28 digs in just four sets.
