The USC Trojans on Wednesday won their 42nd-straight dual match with a 5-0 win over Loyola Marymount, who received votes but were just outside of the top 15 in the latest AVCA rankings.
The team’s #1s Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes moved to 12-0 on the season in dual. After the teams faced off in their team dual, they split up into individual pairs, which Claes/Hughes won their first two matches before an all-USC final. The Trojans paired Terese Cannon, who typically plays on the 3 line, with Hughes and played an exhibition final against Katrina Kernochan and Allie Wheeler, the school’s #2 pair.
Cannon and Hughes won in straight sets, 21-14 and 21-18.
