Coming off a 19-11 season in which they ended the year ranked 13th, Grand Canyon is looking for a strong season once again in 2018. They’re ranked 15th in the preseason AVCA Coaches Poll, and will be plenty tested with 12 ranked matches on the slate and another loaded year in the MPSF.

Things get going on January 4 at Barton, a team who made the NCAA Tournament last year. They stay on the road for two more after that against George Mason, a team receiving votes in the preseason.

The home opener comes on January 12 against North Greenville for a weekend that also features Limestone College and #5 Hawaii on January 12. Grand Canyon faces their second preseason ranked opponent on January 20 in #7 UC Irvine before facing another team receiving votes in UC San Diego.

After several more non-conference matches, the Lopes start up MPSF play on February 8 with #10 Pepperdine. As part of the reshaped conference, they’ll play the Waves twice, along with #4 UCLA, #3 BYU, #8 Stanford, Concordia and #12 USC. They’ll play a handful of non-conference matches littered in, although none come against preseason ranked teams.

Through it all, senior day comes on Friday, April 6 against USC. If things go according to plan after that, they will take part in the MPSF Tournament to compete for a spot in the NCAA Tournament field after that.
