Former Miami (FL) Hurricane Olga Strantzali will continue her volleyball career by signing with Beziers Angels in France. Strantzali comes off of a three-year career with Miami (FL) after one season with UCLA, with 2017 earning the crowning achievement of ACC Player of the Year.

A 6’1″ outside hitter originally from Pylai, Thessaloniki in Greece, Strantzali was Pac-12 All-Freshman Honorable Mention with UCLA in 2014 before transferring to Miami (FL). From there, she made three All-ACC teams, earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention twice and added the conference’s player of the year honor.

In total for 2017, Strantzali recorded 499 kills (4.54 per set), 260 digs (2.36 per set), 46 blocks (0.42 per set) and 43 aces (0.39 per set) on a team that made the NCAA Tournament second round.

Strantzali also has experience in the Greek National Team program, playing with the Youth squad that finished fifth at the European Championships in 2013 and eighth in 2011. She also was the top scorer in the Balkan Championship in 2012, when Greece finished fourth. Then, in 2015, Strantzali got the call up to the senior team for the European Volleyball League.

Her new team, Beziers, is currently in a championship race at the top of the Pro A Women’s league in France. They’re sitting at 10-1 and have just one less point than the league’s leader, RC Cannes, right now.

The move comes with Beziers striker Mari Hole out for the rest of the season with injury too, so Strantzali will have a real chance for some playing time in trying to impact a championship caliber team.
